🏀 Coach Tom Betzig – A Legacy of Leadership and Passion
Tom has been a dedicated youth basketball coach since 2012, bringing over a decade of experience and enthusiasm to the court. His coaching career spans boys and girls teams from Kindergarten through High School, with a strong focus on player development, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
During his tenure with the Redding/Easton Basketball Association (REBA), Tom led his teams to five FCBL championships, showcasing his ability to build winning programs. In 2024, he launched the CT Hawks, and quickly made an impact—his teams have already claimed four Zero Gravity Hoops Tournament titles, reflecting his continued success at the AAU level.
Tom also served as the Boys JV Coach at Joel Barlow High School for six seasons, where he was known for his mentorship and strategic acumen.
As a player, Tom was a standout at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, earning:
- 🏅 Selection to the 1992 and 1993 Holiday Tournament Teams
- 🏅 A spot on the 1994 All-Area Team
- 🏅 The prestigious New Haven Tap-Off Club Award
He continued his basketball career at Connecticut College in New London, competing at the collegiate level and deepening his understanding of the game.
Tom’s lifelong commitment to basketball—both as a player and coach—makes him a respected figure in Connecticut’s basketball community. His passion for teaching, winning, and inspiring young athletes continues to shape the next generation of players.
